Conlexia
Watch your p’s and q’s — and your b’s and d’s!
Mirror-flip confusable letters to scramble any phrase.
In the English language, some characters -- like ‘p b d q’ -- are identical except for their orientation in space. This can make it difficult for some readers to distinguish them. At TNT we wondered if we could write an app to identify target letters in a phrase and replace them with other members of the same confusable set.
The result is Conlexia (coined from ‘confusing’ and ‘dyslexia’). Choose any target character set and play with the transformations.
We found a cool video giving p b d q attack strategies for kids. We love you, YouTube!
Programmer’s Note
Conlexia is a spin-off of our earlier PHP app pbdq Confusion. We generalized the process so any set of letters can be the target!
