About the shapes library:
You can buy store-bought ice cream. Or, you can make your own. Even though there are terrific brands of ice cream you can buy, there's just something about making your own from scratch. We feel that way about graphics.
There are many graphics programs you can use (like Processing) that might do things quickly and elegantly, but when you can make your own custom images from library shapes...its just so...satisfying!
The thumbnails images below link you to the larger image and explanations of how you can customize your own images using those library 'engines.'
Newer entries to the library have a green background and white text caption. Be sure to check them out!
Once you go to a particular graphics library entry page, you can even modify those images online with some crafty Chrome Developer Tools we discuss in our Help section.
We are harnessing the power of JavaScript objects to do our bidding. Each year, we try to add a few new entries to our library.
Note: In an effort to clarify each shape's design, we have a notes section underneath each picture to describe its most telling features. We also have a table of relevant design information. Those tables are in the process of being completed with information, so be patient if you find them empty. We're working overtime to get them up for you.
View the complete graphics library code. It's pretty lengthy, so remember you can search the JavaScript document for stuff you are interested in.
